Automotive and Mechatronics

Navarre has a significant number of companies in the automotive sector (5.9% of its GVA), as the largest exporting sector in the region by far (45% of the total). As concerns areas for growth and innovation, the development of automotive parts manufacturers and their progress in the value chain particularly stands out in addition to the promotion of sustainable mobility, electrical vehicles and driverless vehicles as future trends.

On the other hand, the region has special advanced manufacturing capabilities with the machinery, electronics and production system companies grouped together under mechatronics (6.9% of the GVA). In this area, there is greater technological specialization as it accounts for nearly 39% of all patents in the last few years and 24.4% of exports from Navarre.

HARP reduces weight with modular connectors

Monday, 29 de Augost de 2022

Engineers are currently exploring a shift towards integrated modular avionics (IMA),  leading to better optimisation of the hardware. With this goal in sight, the Harmonised Amphenol Radiall Project (HARP) has developed a range of TRL 6 connectors for Line Replaceable Modules (LRM). These connectors can support the development of a lighter, more cost-efficient modular solution which will bring overall aircraft weight and fuel consumption savings.
